Shippensburg University inducted five former athletes into its Athletic Hall of Fame Homecoming Weekend.
Many of us have nailed the winning shot at the buzzer, set a new world record, scored the go-ahead touchdown, or hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning for our favorite team. And then we snap out of our daydreams. The vast majority of us will never get the call that we’ve been selected to play a sport at the professional level as several Shippensburg University athletes did this year.
This May, Shippensburg University reclaimed the Dixon Trophy as the top overall athletics program in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Shippensburg has now won the Dixon Trophy a conference-record eight times. No other school has won more than three times. Lindsey Knupp ’04 loved sports and played sports, but she never expected to be working in sports after graduating from Shippensburg University. Fortunately, whether playing or working on the field, she excelled. In fact, Knupp is so good at what she does in her roll as vice president of marketing and entertainment for the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs that she earned the Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year in December 2015.
